Friday Explorer Sessions

These sessions are for children who will be starting school in the following September. Every child who attends the normal pre-school session will be offered a place at our Friday session. Our Friday sessions are always very popular and we have positive feedback from both parents and our feeder schools. We recomment these sessions, as you child will learn valuable skills that will enable easier transition from Pres-School to School.

We have four qualified members of staff each working with the children in small groups. This small ratio of children to adults means your child will benefit from the individual attention we are able to give.

Your child will be able to choose a book, which they can take home in their own Emmanuel book bag and exchange the following Friday. This is not a reading book, we want to introduce the children to borrowing, looking after, to handle books and be aware of their uses, both as a reference and as a source of stories and pictures. Most importantly we want them to enjoy books from an early age.

The Explorers morning starts with the children changing their books, followed by registration, where the children say 'yes' to their name. We go through names, letters, numbers, shapes and colours and explain what the activities of morning will be.

Throughout the morning the children have drinks and snacks available.

We have physical play, weather permitting we are outside, which can consist of bikes, balls, team games, chalks and hoops.

The morning is finished with story and show & tell. Parents are invited to look at their child's work at the end of each session.
